Myth: Drinking coffee causes an addiction.
Fact: Caffeine is a stimulant and coffee contains caffeine. Caffeine may cause some kind of physical dependence, but give it up for a few days and you are back to normal.
With that said, the few days between giving it up and being back to normal does feel like withdrawal symptoms. Headaches, anxiety, fatigue, and irritability do dissipate within days of removing caffeine. Caffeine does not impair daily functions of life the way other addictive drugs could.
